Damian Kołakowski
Deputy Director of the Department of Infrastructure and Environment of the Upper Silesian-Zagłębów Metropolis, he has been professionally involved with local government units for 20 years.
Graduate of various degrees and types of studies at the University of Economics in Katowice, the University of Silesia, the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, the School of Business in Dąbrowa Górnicza. Property manager (professional license in the field of management No. 21181 issued by the Minister of Infrastructure obtained in 2011).
Practitioner, long-time employee of the Siemianowice Śląskie City Hall dealing with property management, renovations, investments and municipal management. As Head of the Municipal Management Department of the Siemianowice Śląskie City Hall, he was responsible, among other things, for the implementation of the municipal waste management system or the development of blue-green infrastructure in the City.
In GZM he is in charge of such areas as blue-green infrastructure, energy efficiency and waste management.
Danuta Kamińska
Vice chairwoman of the board of directors of the Upper Silesian and Zagłębie Metropolis. Supervises the work of the Department of Strategy and Spatial Policy.
From 2001 to 2018, she was Treasurer of the City of Katowice. Previously, she worked at the BUDIMEX Foreign Trade Headquarters, among others, as well as running her own business. In addition, for many years she has been involved in social activities for the benefit of local government, in particular, she was a long-time member of the Team for the System of Public Finance in the Joint Commission of the Government and Local Government, and chaired the Commission of Treasurers of the Union of Polish Metropolises. A respected lecturer and organizer of many conferences, as well as a participant in national meetings as an expert in the field of public finance, author and co-author of articles on public finance. Danuta Kaminska was awarded the Golden Cross of Merit and the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Rebirth of Poland by the President of the Republic. She is a graduate of the University of Economics in Katowice and the Kozminski University in Warsaw, where she completed postgraduate studies and obtained an MBA diploma.
Henryk Borczyk
The vice chairman of the board of the Upper Silesian-Zagłębi Metropolis is a Tyszan and graduated from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Cracow.
He has many years of managerial and local government experience. Previously, he worked, among others, as deputy mayor of the City of Tychy (2000-2010), where he supervised the areas of investment, municipal services and environmental protection. He was responsible for the creation and implementation of the country’s first Low Emission Reduction Program. He also managed the city companies Agency for Promotion and Economic Development and Tychy TBS.
From 2010 to 2015, he was president of Tauron Ciepło, and then vice president of the management board for corporations of the Tauron Polska Energia S.A. group, responsible for strategic and consolidated procurement. He also held a number of social functions such as Vice President of the Association of Energie Cities Municipalities, an expert of the Parliamentary Committee for Environmental Protection and a member of the Regional Energy Council of the Silesian Union of Municipalities and Districts.
Kazimierz Karolczak
Chairman of the board of directors of the Upper Silesian and Zagłębie Metropolis, the first institutionalized metropolis in Poland.
He coordinates work related to the Metropolis’ implementation of statutory tasks: shaping of spatial order, social and economic development, development and integration of public mass transport and promotion. Previously, he served as Deputy Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship, where he was responsible for matters related to the European Social Fund, Environmental Protection and Economy, Tourism and Sports, among others. From 1999 to 2003 he was self-employed, then in 2003 he founded one of the first employment agencies in Poland, WORKER Sp. z o.o., which soon became one of the largest companies operating in its field. In 2005, he became a founding member and Vice President of the Association of Employment Agencies (SAZ), at the moment Poland’s largest industry employers’ organization bringing together employment agencies specializing in providing selected HR services. In 2007, he sold his shares in the company. Until 2010, he served as a member of the board, general manager introducing the investor to the Polish market. Kazimierz Karolczak is a graduate of the Faculty of Technology at the University of Silesia. He also completed the Managerial Postgraduate Studies at the Warsaw School of Economics.

Agnieszka Rupniewska

Agnieszka Malgorzata Rupniewska – Polish lawyer, entrepreneur, manager and local government activist.
She is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Silesia in Katowice. She also completed postgraduate studies at the School of Banking in Dąbrowa Górnicza, majoring in MBA.
She served as President of the Board of Directors of a company operating in the energy and installation industry and as Chief Legal Officer. In addition, she was also chairwoman of the Supervisory Board in a municipal company controlled by the city of Rybnik.

Anna Monsiol-Szatkowska

Anna Timofiejczuk, Ph.D., Prof. PŚ
Co-founded the first Silesian Competence Center for Industry 4.0 in Poland (2018). She developed the dual degree program and is also the originator of the Edual conference organized since 2016. She served as dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Technology from 2016 to 2024, and as deputy dean of the faculty from 2012 to 2016. Since 2022, she has been deputy director of the Center for Industry 4.0 at the Silesian University of Technology. She was a member of the Consultation Team of the MPiT’s Future Industry Platform Project and a member of the Council on Automotive with Electromobility. Since 2024, she has been director of the Poland in Silicon Valley office of the Center for Science, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship in Palo Alto, USA.

Joanna Augustyn-Nadzieja, PhD
Works at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow. She is an assistant professor in the discipline of Materials Engineering at the Faculty of Metals Engineering and Industrial Informatics. She serves as Plenipotentiary of the AGH Rector for Academic Circles. She is a Certified Academic Tutor, Mentor at the Female2Female Mentoring Foundation, Academic Supervisor of Individualized Study Organization and Promoter of more than 100 projects and theses. In her work, she highly values close cooperation with industry and learning about technological processes. Ms. Doktor’s scientific achievements include numerous commissioned works of a scientific and research nature, expert reports and opinions for the industrial sector. Katarzyna Daab-Borkowska
Plenipotentiary of the Mayor of Katowice for Equal Treatment
Clerk, versed in procedures and modes of administration. She is also involved in counseling and consumer education. Since 2023, she has supported the Mayor in implementing equality and anti-discrimination policies. Katarzyna Kuczyńska-Budka
Associated with Gliwice since birth. Graduate of Polish philology at the University of Silesia
in Katowice. For many years associated with journalism – including Radio Plus, Polish Television and Dziennik Zachodni. Since 2004, director of the press office at the municipal office, and then the press office of the Silesian governor. For the next 15 years she was associated with government and local administration, heading, among other things, the dialogue team. She was also in charge of crisis communications. Since 2015, director of the Marshal’s Office of the Silesian Voivodeship, where she implemented senior programs and youth programs, developed cooperation with non-governmental organizations and international entities, and worked actively on behalf of women. She was also director of the Dialogue Department at the Marshal’s Office. For years she has been actively working for the city and its residents. In 2018, she was elected to the Gliwice City Council.
In the 2024 local elections, she was elected mayor of Gliwice.
She is married to Boris and is mother to Michalina and Lena. She spends her free time most preferably traveling and with a book in hand.
Marta Zawadzka
Born 11.06.1982 in Katowice, Poland. Elected to the Board of Directors of the World Ice Hockey Federation in 2016, re-elected in 2021. In her previous term, she was responsible for the IIHF Referee Commission and the IIHF Women’s Ice Hockey Commission.
Currently responsible for the IIHF Referee Commission and the IIHF Digital Transformation issue, as well as the group on Creating Good Practices in Ice Hockey Development.
Graduate of the Academy of Physical Education in Katowice with a degree in Sports Management, the University of Silesia in Katowice with a degree in Management and Marketing and an Executive Master of Business Administration. In addition, completed postgraduate studies at AWF Katowice in Image Management and Sports Media Studies.

Nagma Mohamed Mallick
Nagma Mohamed Mallick began her diplomatic career in Paris where she served in the Embassy to the French Republic and in the Indian Mission to UNESCO. In New Delhi, she served in various capacities in the Government of India, beginning as Desk Officer in the West Europe Division of the Ministry of External Affairs, then on the personal staff of Prime Minister Mr. I.K. Gujral in the Prime Minister’s Office, and finally as the first woman Deputy Chief of Protocol (Ceremonial).
She served thereafter in India’s diplomatic Missions in Nepal and Sri Lanka as First Secretary and Counsellor respectively. Back in Delhi, she was Deputy Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs. She was then Director in the Eurasia Division where she looked after India’s bilateral relations with Russia and the CIS countries. From July 2010 to September 2012, she was Deputy Chief of Mission in the Embassy in Thailand.
She was Ambassador of India to the Republic of Tunisia from October 2012 to November 2015. From December 2015 till December 2018, she was High Commissioner of India to Brunei Darussalam.
She was Head of the Policy Planning Division of the Ministry from February 2019 till January 2020 and then Additional Secretary (Africa) till August 2021, as Head of Division for relations with Eastern and Southern African nations, with supervisory duties over ties with all Africa. She is presently Ambassador of India to the Republic of Poland.

From 1988 to 2001, Dr. Su worked as a Professor of National Training Center of Coal Mines, and directed the work of China Collaboration Center of International Labor Organization-International Occupational Safety and Health Information Center (ILO-CIS).
She received the Special Achievement Award from the United States Department of Labor in 2003, the Special Award from Embassy of Poland in Beijing for her contribution to China-Poland relationship in 2014.

He has successively been appointed as a member of National Mineral Resources Planning Expert Advisory Committee, a member of National Major Construction Project Evaluation Expert Group, and Director General of Planning and Consulting Expert Committee of the Third Coal Industry Technical Committee.
