We are investing more and more in AI

According to the report Unlocking Poland’s AI Potential in the Digital Decade – Phase II, prepared by Strand Partners on behalf of Amazon Web Services (AWS), the percentage of Polish companies using AI has increased by an impressive 36% over the past year – the fastest pace among EU countries.

The same survey shows that Polish companies saw a big increase in the rate of AI technology adoption last year and 63% of AI users are using large language models (LLM) or generative AI. The increasing rate of adoption of advanced digital technologies, could bring 576 billion zlotys, or an additional 85 billion zlotys, to the Polish economy.

However, lest we fall into too much self-indulgence, it’s worth reaching for the data brought by the Digital Intensity Index (DII), an index that classifies companies based on the level of digital technology use, in 2023 21.2 percent of Polish companies reached a high or very high level of digital intensity, while the average for the 27 European Union countries is 25.2 percent.

It turns out that last year, across the European Union, an average of 8 percent of enterprises implemented artificial intelligence solutions. Meanwhile, in Poland, it was 3.7 percent.[1] It could be worse, but it is by no means good.

At the same time, there is no doubt that the implementation of artificial intelligence is crucial for the future and competitiveness of companies. In this context, it is also necessary to increase overall investment in innovation. Ayming Poland’s “International Innovation Barometer 2025” emphasizes that among Polish companies, the potential of using AI to streamline and accelerate the process of innovation development was noted by 37% of the surveyed companies. The authors of the aforementioned report emphasize that Polish companies most often use AI for data analysis. This option was indicated by 42% of respondents, making it the most popular application of AI in innovation processes. Although this result is slightly lower than the global average (53%), it still indicates a strong interest in this area. In second place is predictive analytics. They are used by 33% of Polish companies – also slightly below the global level (43%). By contrast, an interesting trend is that 37% of Polish companies are using AI to generate ideas. This indicates greater involvement in creative processes than internationally.

“International Innovation Barometer 2025” is based on a survey conducted in June 2024, which included 1,227 respondents from 17 countries. They included R&D directors, CFOs, CEOs and technology directors. Participants also included 60 Polish companies of various sizes (from 1-9 to 20,000+ employees).
