The second day of the EXPO KATOWICE International Fair of Mining, Power Generation and Metallurgy is underway at the MCK in Katowice and Slawik and Antall Square.
A strong highlight at the beginning of the second day was a panel discussion at the 5th Polish Mining Congress entitled. “The future of the Polish mining industry – perspectives beyond 2050”, with the participation of: Polish Mining Group President Tomasz Rogala, Tauron Wydobycie President Jacek Pytel, Bogdanka Mine President Artur Wasil, representatives of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow – Prof. Paweł Bogacz, Ph.D., and Jerzy Kicki, Ph.D., as well as Jacek Korski, Ph.D., FAMUR Management Board advisor for foreign ventures, and Janusz Olszowski, President of the Mining Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
In turn, an interesting conference was held on the main stage of the Fair entitled. “Methane from Coal Mines – Current Status – Challenges” organized by the International Center of Excellence for Coal Mine Methane in Poland together with GIG and JSW SA.”, during which the following were discussed: methods of controlling and monitoring methane emissions, legal regulations on methane emissions to the atmosphere, technologies for capturing and using methane from coal mines, the EU methane strategy and the transformation of the coal sector.
During the second day of the Fair, Exhibitors were also visited by the President of EXPO Katowice SA, Ms. Iwona Gramatyka. The 13th Silesian Brigade of Territorial Defense Forces also presented itself, as well as demonstrations by the Central Mine Rescue Station.
